HYPERTENSION (HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE)
Hypertension is when
your blood pressure is higher than 140 over 90 mmHg (millimeters of mercury) by
experts. There are two readings that are recorded from the instrument
(Sphygmomanometer) used in measuring high blood pressure or hypertension.
These
two readings are the Systolic (which is the top number read on the
Sphygmomanometer pointing out the pressure your body exerts against your artery
walls during heartbeats or simply the pressure recorded as the heart pumps
blood around the body). And diastolic (which is the bottom number read on the
Sphygmomanometer pointing out the pressure your blood exerts against your
artery walls while the heart is at rest between beats or simply the pressure as
your heart relaxes and refills with blood).
When you record a
reading of 120/80 mmHg meaning your blood pressure is normal, and when you
record a reading of 140/90 mmHg and above means you blood pressure is high
(hypertension). Between 120 and 140 for systolic reading, or between 80 and 90
for diastolic reading is called prehypertension, meaning you may end up with
high blood pressure, unless you take steps to prevent it
(by medical experts).
Signs of Hypertension may include
- Memory loss
- Tiredness
- Chest pains
- Sleeplessness by experts
Factors that may cause high blood pressure may include
- Smoking
- Taking in much Alcohol
- Taking in too much salty foods or better still salt rich diets and
- Other medical condition like kidney diseases (by experts) might be a cause of hypertension.

above should be reversed in other to reduce high blood pressure. Again regular
