The skin is a protective covering, which helps in regulating body temperature, houses sensory receptors, synthesizes chemicals and excretes waste. The skin is made up of three parts

Epidermis
The epidermis is a layer of stratified squamous epithelium that lacks blood vessel. The epidermis protects the underlying tissues against water loss, mechanical injury and the effects of harmful chemicals. Melanocytes transfer melanin to the nearby epidermal cells which protect the underlying cell from the effect of UV light.

Dermis
The dermis binds the epidermis to the underlying tissues.
The dermis contains muscle cells, blood vessels, and nerve processes
Dermal blood vessels supply nutrients to all skin cells and help regulate body temperature.

Hypodermis (subcutaneous or Fat layer) It's made up of fat and connective tissues that houses larger blood vessels and nerves. Subcutaneous tissue acts as an insulator and regulates body temperature.

Acne medically knows as Acne vulgaris is a skin disease that involves the oil glands at the base of hair follicles.Experts believe that it is primarily caused as a result of rise in hormone levels specifically androgen.
